No previous jewelry-making experience is required. Auratone is a photographic process that is similar in appearance to vintage tintypes or Daguerrotypes. Over time, Auratone jewelry takes on a soft, aged patina...a mellowing. This is to be expected and is inherent to the beauty of each piece. We'll use pendants made from lead-free pewter plated in a 24-karat warm antique gold finish.

For the pendants, you'll send me a selection of JPG files ahead of time which I will process in preparation for this workshop. For this project, portraits are best (whether human or pet). Once you register, I'll send you the specifics in terms of size, resolution, orientation, etc. On the day of the workshop, I'll give a demonstration of the Auratone process. After inserting your own pre-processed Auratones into pendants and then glazing them in class, you'll attach them to your bracelet once they're thoroughly dry.

You'll learn basic wire wrapping techniques for connecting your charms, beads and other embellishments to your bracelet via jump rings.

A charm bracelet with clasp as well as pendants, beads, and jump rings will be supplied as well as all materials for creating the Auratones.

Please bring jeweler's pliers if you have some, and any favorite beads, old charms, found objects, or orphaned earrings of your own that you may want to attach.

Additional pliers, beads, embellishments, and kits for making more bracelets will be available for purchase at the workshop.

Please bring a sack lunch...there's a fully equipped kitchen on site if you need to refrigerate or heat something up. There is also a Trader Joe's and a Ralphs supermarket in walking distance.
