Workshop will include:

• Introduction to the instructor and his work
• Brief historical background on linocuts
• Choosing an appropriate image and transferring it to the lino
• Learning good cutting technique
• Proofing and printing using an etching press, baren, and wooden spoon
• Each participant will create a one-color linocut.

The instructor will supply the etching press, barens, ink and paper. 

Participants should purchase additional supplies prior to the workshop. All supplies listed below are available at Dick Blick and should cost around $25.

Please bring:

• 2 unmounted lino blocks (4" x 6")
• lino cutter set
• 4" brayer
• x-acto knife

Joseph Vorgity is a contemporary realist watercolorist and printmaker. He maintains a studio in Los Angeles and is a member of the Los Angeles Printmaking Society. His hand-carved, individually pressed notecards are sold at the Craft & Folk Museum and are also available through Hyacinth Press. In September, 2006, ten of Joseph's white line prints were exhibited at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art sales and rental gallery. He was featured in an article about his woodblock prints in the October 1999 issue of American Artist Magazine.
